Inside Our Hubcap Plant in China: How YZM Builds 500,000 Hubcaps a Year

Behind every SFD hubcap, hubodometer and temperature alert bolt sits a factory built by YZM — our own manufacturing base, now fully integrated with SFD’s global sales operation. When the plant was laid out, it was designed around a single question: how do you build wheel-end components that a fleet can trust for a million miles? The answer came from three directions — a professional engineering team, close technical support from our axle manufacturing partners, and production equipment specified for repeatability rather than output alone.

Design work at YZM starts at the axle interface. Hubcaps and hubodometers have to seat correctly on a specific axle end, so our engineers develop each part against real axle drawings and field data collected from fleet operators. Where a design touches load-bearing or sealing performance, our axle partners step in with technical support — validation criteria, material recommendations and test standards refined over years of axle production. The result is a part that is engineered to fit, not adapted after the fact.

Walk the floor of our hubcap plant in China and you will find five core systems doing the heavy lifting — each one specified for a single purpose: taking variation out of the process.

• Automated hubcap assembly equipment — consistent press-fit and seal seating on every single unit
• Ultrasonic plastic welding machines — clean, strong, repeatable welds on plastic components
• Automatic packaging machines — protective packing built to survive international freight
• High and low temperature test chambers — thermal cycling validation from arctic cold to desert heat
• Induction heating equipment — controlled, efficient heating for bearing and component assembly

Those machines are why a hubcap that fits on Monday still fits on Friday, and why the thousandth unit matches the first. The same discipline runs through our hubodometer lines next door. It is the reason we can hold our ground as a hubcap supplier and a hubodometer supplier for distributors, fleets and OEMs worldwide — the equipment buys the repeatability, the repeatability earns the order.

Current production capacity across the YZM lines:

• 500,000 hubcaps per year
• 300,000 temperature alert bolts per year
• 20,000 mechanical hubodometers per year

All three lines support OEM production — custom branding, private-label marking, packaging and specifications built to the customer’s drawing.
